Description

It is a genital and eye disease.

Can be transmitted during vaginal, anal and oral sex or passed from an infected mother to her baby during vaginal child birth.

Symptoms
  • Burning sensation when urinating
  • White discharge
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Swelling of testicles in men
Treatment

It can be effectively cured with antibiotics once it is detected.

For sexually active women who are not pregnant, screening is recommended in those under 25 and others at risk of infection.

Prevention

Prevention includes correct and consistent condom use
